Quit My Job, Today!

Well, I did it.

I quit my job today - It is never an easy change to move from job to job, but I felt that after 15 months of working for my company (3Leaf Systems) that it was time to move on.

I do I.T. stuff - computer this, connect that, flip this.  For the past few months, I have felt like this "Monkey Pushing a Button" (LINK) and recently the organization went through a re-org and I haven't felt really secure since then.  My insecurity coupled with a general lack of moving the company forward attitude from a few key individuals made my job less than desirable.

So I started interviewing a few months back with my 'NEW' company and on December 3, 2008, will be starting with them.  The company is Proteus Biomedical and I will be their I.T. Manager and I look forward to the change in management and hopefully the embracing of a technology/philosophy I have come to love over the past 16 years.

Here is to a better future.

Preaching Love Doesn't Translate Well - Bad Christians

Another page from the WTF circular bin.

Why is it that the fundamental principles taught by Jesus during his 30 some years are lost on the all but the most progressive Christians.  Now Eastern Orthadox Greeks and Armenians are FIGHTING/BRAWLING at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher - the supposed place of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27639792/

How messed up as a religion do we have to be to take the most fundamental principle of our faith - LOVE THY NEIGHBOR and LOVE THY GOD and just totally fuck them up?  We cannot even manage two simple rules from Christ - what makes people think they would be able to manage any of the other rules in life or society.

I think religion is a good foundation for moral and ethical belief system - but to take words written by men, thousands of years ago and to apply them to today's society is just wrong.

Love Thy Neighbor - doesn't mean - have a fight at my tomb because you want pissing rights there.

I hope, someday, to make it to Isreal to see the land were Jesus walked and to see the places that he saw.  But I am under no delusion that my religion has any specific right to that land because he walked there 2000 years ago.

The article above is just insane and wrong on so many levels.

Prop 8 Supports - You Can Have Your Word!

I don't understand what it is about the word marriage that makes it a religious war between the Yes on 8 and No on 8 campaigns.

I am very dismayed and disturbed that 52% of the voters decided to discriminate against gays and lesbians.  Some people say that they didn't mind that people wanted to have a union together or the same rights as heterosexual people, but that the word MARRIAGE belonged to those who washed themselves in the sanctity of their religions.

I don't agree.   So, I guess it will come down to the California legislature having to create some UNION LICENSE with the same exact inalienable rights as those who traditionally sought out a marriage license from the state of California.  So, you might be getting 'married' in the church, but you will be required to get a UNION license from the state of California - that is the only solution at this point.

Now, Marriage will become this word used specifically for church sponsored unions and should not be used in any legislature or legal documents.  There has to be some unifying principal for people to have the same rights under the state - otherwise we are talking about discrimination - plain and simple.

I challenge any person who does not believe in the above, prove to me that your line of thinking isn't discriminatory towards the rest of Californians - without bringing in your religious beliefs.  Good Luck!

Remember, Remember...

Guy Fawkes Day - November 5

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I can think of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

How Appropriate for today!

Thank You God, for President-Elect Obama!

Nuff Said!

Full Of Hope, For Change!

Today is a historic day for our nation.  With that one statement, you get the sense of awe and start to understand how important this day really is.  Not only will today decided some very important legislature for the state of California, but will determine whether or not we decide to head down the same path as the prior 8 years or forge ahead with a different candidate - one centered on dealing with domestic issues.

Now, when I was younger, I was for the Peace and Freedom party - socialistic in nature - yes, but I believed that the government has a right and duty to help its citizens.   Well - that was 18 years ago.  Things have changed a bit.  I am a Silicon Valley white collar worker with 3 kids and a lovely wife and a great home in Almaden Valley of San Jose.  I am a bit more conservative than I used to be, but that doesn't mean that I don't think America needs help - needs change.

We have a lot of domestic issues that need to be addressed and that doesn't mean clothing and feeding the indigent people of Iraq or Afghanistan. We need to take the Billions of dollars spent there, and spend it here.  Why is it that the Bush family seems to take a good think and make it bad?  Anyone bother with that question?

Who knows - maybe McCain will make a good choice as President of the United States, but no matter the outcome tonight - my vote will count towards something.  If Obama does not win, then my vote will count as a mark against the new regime and McCain will have to address me and my fellow citizens and deal with the idea that we didn't believe in him or what he can do for the U.S.  He will have to spend the next 3-4 years making us believe the right person was chosen.  But I don't think I will have to worry about that.

I am hoping against hope that Obama will retain and maintain his lead during this election night and we will all have a clearer picture of where our government is heading come tomorrow morning.

No matter the outcome - may God Bless Our Nation and may the Blessings also help the next President of the United States.
