Remember The Best

Out with the Flu today - caught up on my Rescue Me during my downtime... If you haven't seen this series on FX - it is really good. Anyway - a lot of 9/11 talk in last weeks episode and some this week - really strong stuff.  Even though I was only with Saratoga Fire for 3 years, it was some of the best times in my life.  A close bond with my brother as we answered the midnight call to cover the house, or the ties to the some of the greatest men to I have had the honor of calling my brothers.  I ended my stint with Saratoga Fire District (now absorbed into the Santa Clara County Fire) in '94, but my heart will always be a smoke-eater.  (developing an entry specfically for that word).

Never Forget - Always Remember the Bravest and the Finest!

Words from Bruce Springsteens tribute to the fallen, INTO THE FIRE from the Album, THE RISING:

The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me, then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

You gave your love to see, in fields of red and autumn brown
You gave your love to me and lay your young body down
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need you near, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

It was dark, too dark to see, you held me in the light you gave
You lay your hand on me
Then walked into the darkness of your smoky grave
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your love bring us love

Nuff Said.
