New Year resolution number 329342.12 – Really

December 30th, 2007 Bill Teeple No comments

OK, so it is my first news years resolution, two days ahead of when they should take effect.

I am concerned that my propensity for colorful slang and language is wearing off on my children.  I vow to curb my ‘enthusiastic’ language, for the sake of my children and their futures.  I want to be the best parent that I can and give my kids the proper upbringing so they can be great citizens.

Let us all remember that the little things we do, get imprinted on our children’s brains – whether we know it or not – they learn, they absorb and they repeat.  We must be good parents, good citizens to expect the same of our children.

Have a great holiday and see you in 2008!!!

And the Word became flesh…

December 24th, 2007 Bill Teeple No comments

What a truly beautiful and remarkable statement.  Let’s read it again in it’s entirety:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

The Word became flesh and make his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, sho came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:1-5,14

What an awesome day to behold.  The promise made by God to his chosen people in sending forth a babe to become the deliver of man from sin.  Not the redeemer of manly things, but the promise of access to God, the promise of redemption of our sins so that we might be reunited with God and our family in heaven.

I am truly blessed this holiday season.  I have a job as does my wife.  We have three beautiful and healthy children who daily promise to deliver to use new and exciting viewpoints on life.  I find my time on earth dwindling and am trying to balance that out so that my children will know me a bit better than I think my father knew me.

Today is truly a great day – Happy are we who believe within Christ – for we will surely enjoy the fruits and beauty of heaven.

God Bless you all,

Bill

What A Bah-Humbug Christmas… Read On!

December 22nd, 2007 Bill Teeple No comments

Today, we awoke to find the front lights on our christmas display vandalized and stolen.

How depressing.  What state of mind do you have to be in to think that taking and destroying someone else’s property is an activity worthy of being called fun.  What sort of parents brought up these children (and I know it is kids who do this crap).  We have only lived here for a little less than 2 years and I have to say that I felt safer in my other home than I do in this one.

The kids around here tend to come from afluent families and from what I have seen, they don’t seem to garner much worth in other people or even hint at being respectful of other people’s propery (O.P.P.)!

Needless to say, I have taken down the rest of my display on the front yard and decided that I will not allow these hoodlums and miscreants to further denegrate my holiday.  I have moved my holiday display to the back yard and next year, all my lights will be placed in the back yard for a beautiful holiday display there.  I will further more not subject the neighborhood to my halloween setup any longer either.  Christmas and the holiday lights is very important to me, but the Halloween display is what I look forward to all year round.  I will not chance my Halloween display being trampled.

It really turns out to be the communities loss as we shut ourselves into our home and introvert the outward displays into our backyard instead.

Happy Holidays.

Bill
