Religion does not equal Politics

August 31st, 2008 Bill Teeple No comments

A major election is coming – is it a dramatic opportunity for the country to set the tone for the next 4 years.  Will that be a conservative war machine hell bent on protecting the upper class and denegrating the rights of the lower class or will it be a more liberal government focused on socialistic like programs and assistance for the lower class while taxing the upper class and businesses?

It is confusing because it isn’t just a matter of just voting for the best candidate, but the agenda for the country in the next few years. I like to believe that GOD would want us to protect the underprivileged and those in need of help.  I believe GOD would want us to not make WAR but peace.

But there are those who want you to believe the opposite. But they cloud the issues and shield it in cloth of religiosity.

And that pisses me off.  My religion is my personal relationship with GOD – and it is this relationship that I value.  But my relationship with my children and my wife are stronger!  Is that wrong?  Jesus taught me to love as he loved us.  My children give me so much joy and all I want is to bring them up correctly and knowing that GOD is not some hate-mongering entity on a hill with a burning bush passing out judgment but more of  a compassionate father who loves all his children, even those that do not listen anymore or those that choose their own destiny rather than follow a scripted path.

I do not like McCain.  I love his VP choice and think that she is really cool and young and energetic!  I also love Barrach Obama and not really Joe Biden.  WOW – it is going to be a hard vote coming up.

What is the point?  My family, (Brother and his wife, Sister and her husband and my mother) will probably vote for McCain because of his stance as a Pro-Lifer and will oppose Gay Marriage.  The thing that irks me is that there is no way I can relate to them that there are a 2-3 dozen other issues that we need to address and that by choosing a candidate on 2 things alone doesn’t do much for the rest of the country and the direction we are heading.

My family voted for Bush in 2004 and I was livid.  I don’t think KERRY was a great choice to run against BUSH, but I knew that anyone was better than BUSH.  All they cared about was the Religious aspect of the vote and not the escalation of a WAR in IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN.  Not the thousands of American Lives lost and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.  Not the horrible economic cost the war has incurred.

I guess that is where I differ from them in that the freedoms given to me by this country are being eroded and I value those freedoms.  I value the United States of America.  I value my privacy from the U.S. Government.  Maybe they don’t appreciate the freedoms bestowed by the Red White and Blue of America as much as I do.

I do value my immortal soul, but I feel that if I didn’t stand up for the little people, the ‘insignificant’ the ones without voices, that I would have to answer for that when the last day comes.  I am not intolerant of anything, except for the ignorance of the intolerant.

My blog, my two cents.

Politically Correctedness SUCKS as does the CA legislature

Scathing, yes!

Does it say it all – not quite.  Perusing the local news articles from the NBC affiliate in San Jose, KNTV-11, I came across this article:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315667

It seems that hybrid cars are not only  clean… but are also TOO QUIET!

What the Frak!

Our nation is drowning in legislative bullshit by trying to please everyone all the time.  YOU CANNOT DO THAT!

Of course my car is quiet. It is quiet, because I do want to, someday, run over a blind person!  Does that make any sense to anyone?  Yes, a blind person cannot see the car and its almost silent operation in a driveway, parking lot, or at a stop sign can be seen (no pun intended) as a hazard – but let’s be honest here, we are now taking the driver’s responsibility for watching out for hazards and placing that responsibility squarely on the head of the auto manufactures.  This is almost as bad as the request by the blind people to REPLACE OUR CURRENCY because it is all the same size.

So, will this give me the rights to back out of my parking spot without looking at pedestrians, because I will now have a beep or growl or something emanating from my car?  NO, it is still my job to ensure people are safe around me!

I won’t accept a modification to my car to please the needs of the few and chicken-shit legislature that continuously bows to any form of peer pressure or pandering by lobbyist groups.

Our legislature is about as effective as a tissue paper holding a 40 lb. weight.

Good Job! Keep up the SOLID work.

Blah and the Kindle!

August 20th, 2008 Bill Teeple No comments

Well, here I am back at work, back at home after a very nice vacation.

Same Ole’ Feelin’
But that same old feeling from two weeks ago is slowly creeping back into my daily routine. That, ‘why the frak am I doing this shit still?’ type of feeling.  The vacation was awesome.  On a scale of 1 to 10, this vacation ranked right up around 8, maybe a smidge above into 8.5 range (or if I was an Olympic Gymnastic Judge, it would have been a 14.225 or something of that sort).

Why wasn’t it perfect?

I think the problem is that it really took me 4-5 days to slough off the past year of hard work and putting up with people’s problems.  By the time I was feeling relieved, we were getting ready to leave again!  That is what IRKS me.  1 week just is not enough. 2 weeks next year – I think!

We spent a lovely week in Newport Beach, CA and I cannot say enough about it.  I am not a terrible happy beach goer!  I like the sand and I really liked not being connected to my reality back home as I dived head first into a few novels.  BTW – Stephanie Myers Vampire series ROCKS!  (I polished off the first two books on vacation – some 900 pages worth total and am now 1/2 way through the 3rd book).

New Gizmos
So I came back home, rebuilt my personal system and put in new video card – now here are the specs:

  • Quad Core Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
  • 4 GB of 800Mhz RAM
  • 500 GB Sata II drive (MS Windows Vista Ultimate)
  • 300 GB Sata II drive (Linux Flavor-of-the-Month) (Currently UBUNTU 8.04)
  • Sapphire ATI 3870 PCI-e 512 MB DDR4 video adapter (rocks)

The system rocks!  I like it a lot.  It is very fast and very versatile – I use it as a Windows Media Center system as well as for gaming and general work stuff.

My newest gizmo (to be delivered tomorrow) is the Amazon Kindle.  While I was on vacation, I had the hardest time trying to find the Stephanie Meyers books – so I thought to myself… if I had the KINDLE, I could like – browse over-the-air and purchase the book from the comfort of my jammies on the porch of my beach house!  WTF?  Why didn’t I think of that to begin with?

So, I will be making mine the KINDLE very shortly!

Well – back to work – write more later!
Cheers
